Assessment

In partnership with CCTV4UK, an initial survey was conducted to assess the project. The survey report concluded that the project was to be completed in 3 phases within a month and a half.

Solution

Inspecting the building with the project manager, we had to coordinate this project with other contractors and management to timely complete each phase, not allowing any disruption on the completion. Phase 1: Installing the cat5e structured cabling, for the data points, Wireless access points and CCTV cameras. Phase 2: Finishing the structured cabling data points, installing the CCTV dome cameras and installing the Wireless access points. Phase 3: Assembling and arranging comms cabinet, installing the patch panels, and testing the infrastructure.

With the Comms cabinet in order we tested the entire structured cabling using our fluke tester to determine data speeds and compliance.

Requirements

The client requested assistance in decommissioning an old server rack and relocating the network equipment to a wall mounted cabinet.

Assessment

An initial survey was performed to determine and assess the current rack. The survey report concluded that there was no difficulties in decommissioning of the rack. The state of the rack was pretty poor and had not been maintained for months.

Solution

Inspecting the rack, we decided to first remove any of the equipment that wasn’t functioning or in use. The next step was to check and test all the network cables to correct or replace them.  Once the testing of the cables was completed, we relocated the patch panels and network equipment to the new cabinet. The final process was to trace and label patch panel ports and cables.

With the cabinet in order we proceeded to test the network infrastructure performance.

  • Replace and Repair Cat5 cables
  • Relocate network equipment to wall cabinet
  • Trace and label patch panel ports and cables

La Tua Pasta – Structured Cabling, Wi-Fi Networking

Client: La Tua Pasta is a producer of fresh Italian pasta based in West London.

Requirements

The client requested assistance in installing 56 data points and Wi-Fi access points throughout their new factory.

Assessment

An initial survey was performed to determine the route and access point locations. The survey report concluded that there was some difficulties and issues with the structured cabling route and distance from the Comms cabinet.

Solution

Inspecting the cabling route, we decided to use shielded twisted-pair network cables to protect it from electromagnetic interference caused by high voltage refrigerators. The next step was to check and determine the shortest route possible that we can use to make this project cost effective without using high end network repeaters. With a solution brought to us by our project manager we successfully managed to stay within the 100 metre limit. Having a route in place, we installed 56 data points and 4 cloud-managed wireless access points throughout the factory.

With the Comms cabinet in order we tested the entire structured cabling using our fluke tester to determine data speeds and compliance.
